Nanaimo Centre Stage (NCS) is a multipurpose performing arts venue located in the downtown Nanaimo Arts District. Our mandate is to provide an affordable and professionally-equipped facility for local and regional performing arts groups and other cultural and community organizations.
Nanaimo Centre Stage is an intimate and inclusive community venue that attracts local and regional performers, cultural organizations and businesses, as well as audience members to the Nanaimo Arts District and encourages economic and social participation in the neighbourhood. During our 2011-2012 Season we have hosted 21 unique arts and cultural organizations in the NCS facility, over 70% of which have been locally based. These diverse organizations include live theatre, music, cultural, community advocacy, visual arts, youth, health, and business organizations.
Thinking of hosting an event? Music concerts, theatre performances, and conferences hosted on the main stage can accommodate between 100-200 people, while our downstairs rehearsal hall can accommodate between 50-80 people and is perfect for smaller presentations, and our upstairs lounge area is well-suited to smaller gatherings. The diverse nature of this venue attracts people of all ages and cultural backgrounds and is essential to the cultural vitality and spirit of downtown Nanaimo.
